| I'm invited to friend's wedding shower but can't go, do I have to give a gift? | | I'm invited to my friend's Wedding Shower this month but I can't go. (I already made the trip out-of-state for her bachelorette party and gave her a gag gift). Do I still have to give her a gift? Especially considering I have to pay for a hotel and airfare for my whole family in August (when she's having her wedding), a wedding gift, and a flower girl dress for my daughter. Should I get her another gift for the shower, or is it acceptable to just do a wedding gift and the bachelorette gift (plus the gift of my presence. Ha!) Any advise would be appreciated! | |
| | have you attended a wedding shower/stag parties? | | A wedding shower or a stag party should be a memorable happening where the becoming bride/bridegroom is exposed to different kind of funny activities and pranks. What could be better on such a day than to let the becoming bride/bridegroom, together with her/his friends, try some funny activities and let that event be memorable for them. i haven't attended any of it?have you?how was it? | |

| My sister's wedding shower | | On July 22, 2007 we did finally get to have my sister's wedding shower. It started at 1pm. It was my sister Tierney whom the shower was for, me, my mom, my sister Dani, my grandmother, aunt Joy, and aunt Dee in attendance. My cousin Joey came on his lunch break since he was angry and couldn't stay at work. The first game was the clothes pin game. Each person got a clothes pin and if you caught someone else crossing their legs then you got to take their clothes pin. When the shower was over the one with the most clothes pins won a prize. My aunt Dee and I tied.
The next game was to bake a cake without any recipe from scratch. My sister had several different ingredients and even some that were not supposed to be used in the recipe. She chose to make a chocolate cake . She started by having my brother start the oven at 350. Then she put in 1 and 1/2 cups of flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of cocoa, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and mixed it all up. Then she mixed together her wet ingredients: 2 eggs, 1/2 cup oil, about 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1/2 cup of milk. She mixed all this together and it looked about right. Then she put it in the pan and my brother took it to... | |
| | My sister's wedding shower | | My sister's wedding shower was scheduled for June 10, 2007. On Saturday night my mom youngest sister and I went to set up for the shower. We were going to have it in my brother's store. We got there and got the spices ready for the spice game, the clothes pins ready for the clothes pin game, and the tray ready for the memory game. We then went into the basement to find the last 6 chairs we needed. they were all dusty, but they weren't moldy like my mom thought they would be. We even had everything ready for my sister to try to bake a cake from scratch without a recipe. We got home from setting up for the shower to find out that there was a problem. My sister was in Florida on her honeymoon until Saturday. They were supposed to fly out Saturday afternoon to come back to Nebraska. they got stuck on the interstate due to an accident and missed their flight. My sister called almost in tears because the next flight out was Sunday morning. They would not get back to Omaha until 3pm. The shower was supposed to start at 1pm. She asked if we could just start it later but I had to leave by 5 to get to work. She wouldn't get there till at least 6. Needless to say we have rescheduled the... | |

| Unique Wedding Shower Gift Idea | | June is coming and that means scads of weddings and wedding showers! A unique gift idea is to take a two-tiered vegetable basket (not the hanging type, rather the type that sits..ususally made of chrome) and fill with small kitchen items such as a vegetable brush, potato peeler, silicone hot pads (thse are cute rolled up and tied w/ ribbon), garlic press, maybe even some basic spices! Using either the colored celophane from a packing store or colored Handi Wrap, wrap and tie much like an easter basket! You could even do this in wedding colors! | |

| | How much do we give? | | So we are going to my sister-in-laws wedding on July 14th. And she has asked for a gift giving thing to just give them cash. We bought her a gift already and it was given to her at her Bridal Shower. Now I was asking her how the money was going to be collected. And she told me there will be a money tree. My question is how much do we give them? I already got and gave her a gift so how much more is expected? How much is to little? I dont mean to sound greedy or cheap but I really dont know how much to give them. Any help or advice is appreciated thank you in advance. | |
