| Who made your wedding cake? | | Wedding preparation isn't easy. You have to think of so many things and make sure everything will do as planned. Having a wedding planner lessens the preparation stress but if you are in some budget constraints, you might want to do some effort to make the event memorable even with a low budget. It is possible to ask friends to prepare things for you. In my case, my friends and family helped a lot.It was a civil wedding so we didn't want to spend a lot on it. We were thinking that we will still have to spend for our church wedding soon so we just have to save our money to spend for the church wedding. However, we wanted our civil wedding to be nice also. My husband and I did some planning and our friends helped in the program and preparations. Our wedding cake was simple, showing our motiff: red, white and blue. We prepared the cake stand and bought the cake decors from a store which specializes in cake-making. The decorated cake stand was brought to the reception site by my family. We didn't bake the cake. We ordered some mini cakes from my favorite bakery. My cousins arranged the mini cakes in... | |
| | Wedding Cake Classics | | Last night I was watching on the Food Network the show called Wedding Cake Classics. It was so cool to see all those beautiful cakes decorated with such fine detail. Could you imagine doing such fine pipe work as to resemble the thinness of toothfloss on a cake? I was also amazed at the flower work on many of the cakes, and wonder if I could ever decorate a cake so fine. I noticed many of the cake decorating ladies would use fondant, too. But what was really cool is that the winner from 5o cakes got to go home with a big check. Some of these ladies had spent weeks and even months on their detail work, and the wedding cakes also showed some new trends. Like one cake was all decorated in chocolate fondant, where another one had a pink pearly color to it. You just have to see these cakes! Cake anyone? ich specializes in cake-making. | | How to cut and eat the wedding cake | | I am getting married soon and my fiance and I just discussed the traditions in relation to the wedding cake. We have to cut the first piece of the cake together (both holding the same knife) and then we have to eat the same piece of cake. We can't just eat it, we have to feed eachother. What is it like in your country? Do you have a similar tradition? Or do you have other traditions or superstition in relation to the wedding cake?ich specializes in cake-making. | | Cupcakes? The newest form of wedding cake? | | I attended a wedding this weekend..and when we walked into the reception hall...there to our right was a table with three tiers of cupcakes on it....a wedding topper was at the highest level and all the levels under that were the different flavored cupcakes! One guest that sat with us told us that the last three weddings there was no cake...but all these different kinds of cupcakes. I admit I was just a wee bit disappointed but they did cut a cake....a very small one that was just for the bride and groom and their table. Have you attened a wedding where they served cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake? | |

| Wedding cake | | What did your wedding cake look like? How did you come up with the idea for it & know that was what you wanted? The lady who made our cake wasn't able to make the one I originally wanted, which was a bummer.:( But I found one I liked almost as much. It was 3-tiers, round, had scrollwork, and red roses in between the top & 2nd layer. It looked fantastic!ich specializes in cake-making. | | Wedding Cake | | Here is the wedding cake that I made for my daughter's wedding. Each layer was suppose to be double layered cakes but the wedding guest count was very small so I made single layer cakes instead. The roses are also made of fondant but I elected to do them 1 petal at a time so they look more realistic. I make my own fondant and butter cream icings. I'm particular about my fondant and most "store bought" fondants just taste nasty. What do you guys think... do you think I have a chance of doing this full time? | |
