myLot Discussions| What Could Be Expected In a BRIDAL SHOWER? | | Wife's niece is in town. She's a Filipino and have been in Canada for years. She found the man of her life and though they already got civilly married in the foreign land, they decided to have their church wedding here. And tomorrow will be the big day for both of them.Tonight (as by the time I have posted this, it is already 9 in the evening, Friday), her sister organized a bridal shower for her. And all the girls in the family is there to attend this, including my wife. So, I am here with the kids and made me think, "what could happen in the party?" I am just curious, of course, I am a man and I never had experienced what a bridal shower is, and even a stag party is unknown to me, what could be expected there? Does it need to have a stag party too for the groom when there is a bridal shower for the bride?
| | bridal shower tips | | My cousin is getting married very soon and we are planning of giving her a bridal shower that will be a memorable one. Right now, we are thinking of holding it in the pool but I'm not sure if it's a good idea. Any tips from those of you who have already joined a bridal shower before? Thanks so much! | |
| | Bridal Veils, A Tradition Revealed!! | | DID YOU KNOW That the bridal veil was originally worn as a show of female submission? It was said that along with the Bible verses about headcovering as a show of female submission, that the groom lifting the veil off of her face was a symbol of him taking posession of her. No kidding, I read this in the coure materials I'm currently studying on wedding traditions, as a part of the course I'm taking to become a bridal consultant. I had heard rumours of this fact before my own wedding and decided that I would NOT wear a veil. I am glad I made that decision. I wore a big glittery tiara instead. Anyone else familliar with this tradition, or does this come as a surprise? | |
| | Bridal party drama | | I am a sorority sister so my sister drama typically includes not one, two or three sisters like most families but thirty or forty. That said, one of my sisters, Nicole, just got engaged and asked me to be a Bride's Maid. Another of my sisters, Annie, just asked me if Nicole had told me her news and asked who I thought she'd ask to be in her party..... Which told me that, even though they are close, Nicole didn't ask Annie and Annie didn't know that she had asked me. So now I'm in a position to possibly upset Annie because she didn't get asked and I did. I'd like to be excited and tell Annie, "I know I'm going to be in it," but that's not how it works in the World of Woman. Why do women make such a big deal about who gets to be in the bridal party and who doesn't? With men, if Joe is close to Steve and John but has to choose between then for one reason or another (budget or whatever) and chooses to ask Steve, John says, "no worries, man, it's your choice," and buys both of them a beer. Replace Joe, Steve, and John with Mary, Sue and Ann and the fur flies like crazy. | |
| | Bridal Bliss | | Our wedding was different from most it was planned from my hospital bed.
I was very sick and in the hospital when we decided to tie the knot.
I had so much help from my friends and the groom was the most helpful of all.
We talked constantly back and forth on the phone and planned everything.
The nurses even helped me get a leave of absence for the weekend. My family and friends pulled everything else together the food, decoratations and even an interm bridal coordinator who made sure everything was perfect.
The hardest part of the whole weekend was going back to the hospital without my new hubby.
| | bridal shower ... ideas on gifts and games | | I could really use some help on a bridal shower I am planning for a long time friend. The shower is May 16th 2009.The theme:
"Little Italy"The food:
Salad
Breadsticks
Pasta with a red sauce
Meatballs
Clam linguineTables:
Red and white checked table clothes
Old spaghetti sauce cans, will hold the center pieces of pasta, red and white roses
Red and white “plastic ware” will top off the red napkins Okay so now we have that all planned out I need some help withgifts andgames. I was thinking it would be neat to put an Italian “twist” on traditional bridal games. The first game I was planning was the don’t say “wedding” or you lose your (usually a clothespin) game. What could I use instead of a clothes pin? I was also thinking about making the dress out of toilet paper but I don’t quite remember how that game works.Do you? What other games can you think of?What type of gifts could I give to go with this theme?I really appreciate any suggestions!!

3.) How many of her friends should we invite?
4.) How long do they usually last?
5.) What kind of decorations could we put up? (Inside OR outside the house!)ANY help would be EXTREMELY helpful! Thanks a lot, guys!

| | Have you ever had a surprised birthday party, bridal shower | | or any kind of surprise party? I had a surprise bridal shower. I wasn't really expecting a shower because I was getting married around a holiday and I knew people might be away. But my sister surprised me. It was a big surprise, because of the people that I knew and she didn't that she was able to contact. My husband gave me a surprise birthday party pool side. It was at his aunt's house and everyone came ready to jump into the pool, everyone except me, because I did not know there was going to be a party[em]happy[/em]
Have you ever had a surprise party, and were you really surprised?
| | Bridal bouquet | | Each bride has her own preference of the colors that would be the motif for her wedding and the bouquet of flowers that she would carry. I personally love blue and had our wedding in this motif. However, I didn't want to see everything in blue because my groom and I had some accents of blue on our outfits. And blue flowers are hard to find. I therefore asked for yellow roses on my bouquet and some chrysanthemums to add a spring of freshness.I did hear that some brides asked our flower supplier to dye the flowers to the color they want to achieve a full force of the same color on their wedding day. What are your views on this? What was the color of your flowers?I've attached my photo on my wedding day for you to see the flowers;O) Aren't they beautiful? | |
